A veteran doesn't forget
Reporters and Editors group that may be interested to join us over the
weekend of 25-27 Sept. as we cover many important transition issues with our
membership, national veterans advocates, Members of Congress, V.A.,
Pentagon, and state veterans service officials.
We have also invited, and with the help of generous sponsorship, will
include among our guests, nine veterans of Iraq who have a unique
story: They all served in the deadly al Anbar Province, Iraq during
2006-2007 and consider one another true “brothers in arms.” Of the nine
service men listed, four are Purple Heart recipients and three more are
service disabled. With one exception, all served together in a platoon
within the 1-6 Infantry unit, 1st Armored Div. They will be accompanied by
one father, two wives and one widow if schedules permit.
We expect to air the newly released Public Service Announcement calling for
support of Military Families recorded by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr.
Jill Biden and will have on hand some very special guests for the
hospitality event Friday night and our biennial awards banquet Saturday
night.
Please spread the word! If more information is needed, I’ll refer you to
our Web site at www.vmfp.org, or invite you to call my cell at (615) 238-5500,
or our organization President, Matt Cary, who is based in Washington, D.C.
at (202) 841-1687.
I thank you in advance for your interest and assistance in passing along our
message and hope to see you and some of your colleagues at our conference!
Very truly yours,
Maura W. Satchell
