New board members elected for MRE

Members of Military Reporters & Editors elected three new board members last week, as well as approved changes officers’ and board members’ terms from one year to two years, and to allow communications within the organization to be done by any means available using current technology at the time.New board members are:

  • Bryan Bender, who covers the military for the Boston Globe and who has a book coming out from Doubleday;
  • Amy McCullough, who is a senior editor at Air Force Magazine;
  • Adam Weinstein, who covers national security for Mother Jones.

The membership also re-elected:

  • Kelly Kennedy, who reports for USA TODAY and is the author of “They Fought for Each Other,” will continue as president
  • Don North, a reporter and documentarian going back to Vietnam, as well as the author of “Morton of the Star: Inappropriate Conduct. Canada’s Luckless War Correspondent”
  • Sig Christenson, co-founder of MRE and military reporter for the San Antonio Express-News
  • Isaac Cubillos, author of “Military Reporters Stylebook and Reference Guide,” and a military editor with E.W. Scripps Newspapers.

Appointed to the continue on the board as Secretary/Treasurer is Otto Kreisher, a regular contributor to National Journal Daily, and Seapower, Air Force, Leatherneck and Semper Fi magazines.
