A veteran newspaperman with more than 30 years experience in journalism and education was selected on Saturday as the new president of the Nevada Press Association’s board of directors.

Steve RansonSteve Ranson, editor of the Lahontan Valley News in Fallon for the past seven-and-a-half years, will serve in the post for one year. He succeeds Kirk Kern, chief operating officer of Battle Born Media.

Ranson, a veteran of the Nevada Army National Guard, covered the Navy at Fallon Naval Air Station, then went to the Gulf to see the aircraft on station.
