Howard Altman Joins MRE Board

Howard Altman is the newest member of the Military Reporters and Editors board.

Altman is an award-winning journalist and photographer who covers the military, national security and veterans’ issues for the Tampa Bay Times.

A newsroom innovator, Altman helped create the Continuous News Desk of the Tampa Tribune, TBO.com and WFLA-TV, which changed the way news was covered and delivered in one of the nation’s biggest markets.

Altman is a frequent public speaker and broadcast media guest. He is a subject matter expert in strategic communications. And his work has appeared in publications and books around the world.

“Altman is a sharp and energetic presence in our industry and now, we are happy to say, on our board,” said John M. Donnelly, a reporter for CQ Roll Call who is president of MRE. “Our members should be thrilled that he is working on their behalf.”

MRE is a national membership organization based in Washington, D.C. that comprises nearly 300 reporters, editors, public affairs professionals, researchers, academics and students who specialize in national security.
