WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Military Reporters & Editors Association expresses its profound condolences to the family of retired Army Gen. Colin Powell. Your loss is great.

Powell served his country faithfully and honorably, first in uniform and then as secretary of state. His leadership skills were equaled by few and surpassed by none.

Powell’s passing comes shortly after retired Army Chief of Staff Gen. Raymond Odierno died of cancer. The world is a lesser place without both men.
