Gabriel Pietrorazio from Civil Eats honored by Military Reporters & Editors for work in print media
WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 — During its annual conference for journalists who cover the military, Military Reporters & Editors presented awards to the winners of the 2024 MRE Journalism Contest. Gabriel Pietrorazio’s entry published by Civil Eats was noted by judges as excellent work in enterprise reporting.
Gabriel Pietrorazio Biography
Gabriel Pietrorazio is a national award-winning Indigenous affairs reporter, who has closely covered the intersection of tribal communities and the military, through all mediums. Most recently, Pietrorazio won last year’s domestic military or national defense category for small newsrooms on behalf of The War Horse for his investigative coverage of Wounded Knee Massacre and efforts to rescind Medal of Honors. In 2022, his reporting on declassifying 9/11 documents under the Biden administration also won the student division while reporting for the Capital News Service’s D.C. Bureau as a master’s candidate at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism, housed at the University of Maryland, College Park.
