WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 — During its annual conference for journalists who cover the military, Military Reporters & Editors presented awards to the winners of the 2024 MRE Journalism Contest. Marie Waxel’s entry aired on WAAY-TV was singled out by judges for exceptional work as a television documentary.

Marie Waxel Biography

Marie Waxel is a news anchor with WAAY-TV and an Emmy and Murrow award-winning journalist with a 16-year tenure in broadcast news. Waxel is a graduate of Newberry College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, with a minor in psychology.
